Tom Cruise Reveals Whether He's Going to Retire. The Actor's Words Are Not Surprising

One of the biggest action stars is currently promoting his latest film – the final part of the cult series "Mission: Impossible", which was shown at the Cannes festival a few days ago. Talking about his plans for the future, Tom Cruise announced that he does not intend to say goodbye to his profession. "I will never stop," the three-time Golden Globe winner revealed.

On May 14, the 8th installment of the record-breaking "Mission: Impossible" series was presented at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival . The film, titled "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning," was awarded by the festival audience with a nearly 8-minute standing ovation. The star of the production has no plans to slow down. A few days ago, while appearing on the Australian "Today" program , Tom Cruise revealed that he is currently collecting ideas for the sequels to two blockbusters - "Top Gun: Maverick" from 2022 and "Lightning," which debuted on the big screen exactly 35 years ago.

Tom Cruise has no intention of retiring

If we are to believe Cruise's own assurances, we will hear about his new projects more than once. Speaking to "The Hollywood Reporter", the 62-year-old actor and producer announced that he has no intention of saying goodbye to his profession .

- I will never stop. I will never stop doing action movies, dramas, comedies. I am excited about what is to come. I once said that I wanted to make movies until I was 80. In fact, I will do it even when I am 100. (...) I am incredibly happy that I can still make movies and constantly learn about the process. I just love it - confessed the three-time Golden Globe winner.

Cruise, who is famous for performing his own stunts, set the bar even higher on the set of Mission: Impossible 8, which he and the director of the film discussed at a conference in Cannes. Chris McQuarrie revealed then that perhaps the most dangerous shot involving the actor was filmed on the wing of a biplane.

"When you leave the cockpit, the wind is blowing off the propeller at over 140 miles an hour. You're breathing, but you're not really getting any oxygen. Tom had to spend 12 minutes in there. We know from experience that the fatigue is killing him, because it's like a two-hour gym workout," the director explained.

McQuarrie emphasized that Cruise risked his own life.

- When we got to the 12th minute, we had three minutes of fuel left. Tom literally had three minutes to get up and get into the cockpit because the plane can't land with him on the wing. So he stuck his head in the cockpit to get some oxygen and have the energy to get off the wing. He did it, he came out unscathed. No one else would have done that - the filmmaker confessed.

Cruise, however, revealed that fear is what motivates him.

- I like this feeling. It doesn't paralyze me, it doesn't bother me. People tell me to be careful. And I say: Be competent, keep learning and broaden your horizons - the star noted.

"Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" will hit Polish cinemas on May 23.
