17-year-old arrested in Peniche for assaulting ex-girlfriend

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in the municipality of Peniche, in the district of Leiria, for domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, the GNR reported today.
The boy was arrested on Monday, as part of an investigation into domestic violence, in which soldiers from the Research and Support Unit for Specific Victims (NIAVE) found that the suspect “inflicted physical and psychological aggression on the victim, his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend”.
In a statement issued today, the GNR added that the young man “made threats related to the disclosure of intimate content, namely videos and photographs”.
The operation culminated in the execution of an arrest warrant and a house search, which resulted in the seizure of two airsoft pistols, a computer and a cell phone.
The detainee was charged and the facts were reported to the Leiria Judicial Court.
In the statement, the GNR recalls that domestic violence is a public crime and reporting it is a collective responsibility.
