Chamber approves 9% raise for Armed Forces; text goes to the Senate

Summary: The Chamber approves a 9% salary increase for the Armed Forces in two installments; the text will be sent to the Senate for analysis.
The Chamber of Deputies approved this Thursday, the 10th, the provisional measure (MP) that adjusted the salaries of military personnel in the Armed Forces. The text will now be reviewed by the Senate.
Military pay varies according to rank and rank. The increase provided for in the Executive Branch's bill was divided into two 4.5% installments.
Military personnel have already received half of the expected salary increase. The remaining equivalent amount (an additional 4.5%) will only be paid starting January 1, 2026, provided the provisional measure is also approved by the Senate.
The rapporteur, Congressman Eduardo Pazuello (PL-RJ), a former minister in Jair Bolsonaro 's (PL) administration, recommended approval of the bill but criticized the proposed percentage. "The installments don't even remotely reflect the adjustments that should be made to offset losses year after year," the congressman said.
At the top of the table, according to the approved text, the amount paid to the fleet admiral, the army general and the air brigadier general will increase from R$13,471 to R$14,711 after the application of the two installments.
At the bottom of the scale, the R$1,078 salary will reach R$1,177 in January. This bracket includes enlisted sailors, recruits, soldiers, enlisted soldiers, second-class soldiers, and third-class buglers.
