June at Teatro das Figuras arrives with a dinner, the classic Hamlet and Ornatos Violeta

The month of June at Teatro das Figuras , in Faro, begins on World Children's Day with the visit of Masha and the Bear with «Mission at the Circus», in a show dedicated to the youngest, scheduled for the 1st.
In both sessions, at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, the adventures begin when Masha sees her friend Bear being recruited by a talent scout to work in the magical world of the circus.
With a bolder proposal, the play “Eating the Earth” by Teatro da Didascália emerges. It is a show about the overpopulation of the planet and the consequent problem of the food industry’s lack of response capacity.
This show includes dinner and will take place in the courtyard of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth of Faro ( IPDJ ), on the 5th and 6th of June at 7pm.
The Teatro das Figuras program continues with William Shakespeare's most acclaimed play, the classic «Hamlet», by the Teatro Nacional de São João , on June 7th at 9 pm.
This show portrays the story of the Prince of Denmark with the aim of addressing concerns that are timeless to human beings. The play is directed by Nuno Cardoso and has been touring the country since its premiere in the city of Porto.
In a co-production with LAMA Teatro, «Requiem for a Van» will be an unprecedented and unique show due to the boldness with which it is presented.
With a view to putting an end to the life of the van that served the Algarve theatre company for 12 years, this «Requiem» has emerged as a farewell moment, in which the action of a group of four actors will be accompanied live by the Community Choir of the Algarve Orchestra, on June 14th, at 9:30 pm.

A show that mixes humor and spoken word poetry is how Gregorio Duvivier describes «O Céu da Língua». Directed by actress Luciana Paes, in «O Céu da Língua», Duvivier celebrates the Portuguese language and discovers that man is nothing more «than a monkey that talks». The event will take place on June 17th at 9:30 pm.
The renowned pianist Maria João Pires kicks off the official celebrations of the 20th anniversary of Teatro das Figuras.
Born in Lisbon, Maria João Pires began playing the piano on her own at the age of three and gave her first public performance at just four. In the 1980s, she made her international debut with concerts in London and New York, and is now one of the best pianists in the world.
At Teatro das Figuras, there will be a recital with music by Haydn, Debussy and Schubert on June 18th, at 7:30 pm.
Comedy returns to the Figuras stage on the 26th, at 9:30 pm, with the show «Orgasmos», a comedy that talks about the differences between men and women, taking the audience on a fun journey from the story of Adam and Eve to the present day. With over 100 shows on tour, «Orgasmos» is a true survival manual for life as a couple.
In order to celebrate two decades since the opening of the largest theatre in the Algarve capital, a programme of events is planned for the 27th and 28th of June, which will last for more than 24 hours.
The concert by Porto band Ornatos Violeta will take place on Friday the 27th, at the Theater ramp at 10 pm, with free entry.
On Saturday, the 28th, throughout the day there will be multiple activities and shows taking place at Teatro das Figuras and in its outdoor space.
