The announcement was made by the president of Fondazione Cinema per Roma, Salvatore Nastasi, on the recommendation of the artistic director, Paola Malanga.

The Italian actress returns to the Film Festival after the release of "C'è ancora domani" ("We Still Have Tomorrow"), an award-winning film that marked her directorial debut in 2023. The title won the Special Jury Prize, the Audience Award and the Honorable Mention for Best Debut, subsequently becoming one of the biggest box office hits in the entire history of Italian cinema.

"I am honored to have been invited to preside over the jury of the Rome Film Festival," said Cortellesi, adding that this is "a festival that, over the years, has managed to build a strong and engaging identity, becoming a reference for Italian and international cinema."

According to Malanga, "Paola Cortellesi is an artist of great sensitivity and exceptional talent", so the organizers are "certain that her attentive, profound and innovative gaze constitutes a splendid guarantee for all the films that will be part of the competition of this 20th edition".

"After Marjane Satrapi, Gael García Bernal and Pablo Trapero, the Film Festival Competition will have another extraordinary jury president: Paola Cortellesi", he concluded.
