PPSA qualifies ten companies to auction 74.5 million barrels of pre-salt oil next week

SÃO PAULO - Pré-Sal Petróleo S/A (PPSA) reported that it has authorized ten companies to participate, individually or in groups, in the 5th Federal Oil Auction, which will be held on June 26, at 9 am, at B3 . The companies will compete for 74.5 million barrels of oil.

According to the note, the qualified companies are: CNOOC, Equinor, ExxonMobil, Galp, Petrobras, PetroChina, PRIO, Mataripe Refinery (Acelen), Shell and TotalEnergies. Among the qualified companies, eight already operate under the pre-salt sharing regime, with the exception of PRIO and Mataripe Refinery (Acelen).

For the first time, Equinor and ExxonMobil have expressed interest in the bidding process. This will also be the first time that PPSA has enabled companies acting as a group to participate.

PPSA CEO Luis Fernando Paroli said that the result highlights the market's growing interest in the Union's production and reflects the credibility of the auctions held by PPSA.

"We will offer 74.5 million barrels of excellent quality oil. The Union's production is growing, and it is important to offer predictability of cargo to buyers. We are confident that we will have a good dispute and an unprecedented result for the Union", he stated.

The auction will be divided into seven lots, corresponding to the Mero, Búzios, Itapu and Sépia fields. In the public session, bids will be opened lot by lot. Companies participating in a group will not be able to bid individually for the respective lot.
