He becomes a royal! Felipe VI grants him the title of marquis

Rafa Nadal and his wife, Mery Perelló , have received a very special distinction from the King of Spain. The monarch granted the couple the title of Marquesses of Llevant de Mallorca , a hereditary noble honor that will be passed down from generation to generation, according to Hola!

The legendary tennis player, winner of 14 Roland Garros titles, was recognised for his exceptional career and the contribution he made to Spain's international prestige. Now that he has retired from professional competition, he is now officially known as “ the illustrious Don Rafael Nadal i Parera, Marquis of Llevant de Mallorca”.

According to an official statement from the Royal Household, “his career is an example of excellence, whether in the service of the Crown or in sport, and is a source of pride for Spain, as well as a reference for values ​​that should inspire our society”.

This is the first noble title granted by Felipe VI in his 11-year reign.
