Google adds new AI features to Gmail, Meet and Docs; check it out

Google announced during its annual I/O conference in Mountain View, California, a series of improvements and news related to artificial intelligence (AI) . Among the announcements, made on Tuesday (20), is the incorporation of technology into Workspace, an area that includes tools such as Gmail, Meet and Docs.
The updates allow users to respond to emails faster, connect in other languages and write from relevant sources.
Check out the main changes below.
Gemini on GmailOne of the announcements made by Google is the incorporation of Gemini , the company's AI tool, for intelligent and personalized responses in Gmail.
According to the company, Gemini will be able to pull information from past emails and Google Drive to provide suggested responses with more specific details that are more relevant and to the point. In addition, the AI will also adapt to your typical tone (formal or conversational, for example) so that responses sound more authentic.
Another feature of Gemini in Gmail is to take over tasks like deleting and archiving emails. To do this, simply tell Gemini what you want it to do: for example, “delete all my unread emails from The Groomed Paw from the past year.”
Additionally, the company announced quick appointment scheduling integrated into Gmail, where Gemini detects when a user is trying to schedule a meeting and displays a helpful reminder, making it easy to share the calendar page directly to Gmail, significantly reducing the time and effort spent coordinating schedules.
According to Google, the new features will be available to all users in the next quarter.
Speech Translation in Google MeetAt the conference, Google also announced speech translation in Google Meet, which will first roll out to consumers.
The new feature translates speech into the listener’s language in near real-time, with low latency and preserving the user’s voice, tone and expression. According to the company, speech translation in Google Meet will begin rolling out to subscribers of the Google AI Pro and Ultra beta plans, initially in English and Spanish, with more languages available in the coming weeks.
Image 4 in WorkspaceGoogle has announced Imagen 4 , one of the company's new models for generating videos and images. With it, you'll be able to easily create richer, more detailed visuals, with more accurate spelling and text rendering.
Imagen 4 promises to create images in different proportions and with resolution of up to 2k, even better for printing or presentations and offers unparalleled sharpness in fine details, such as fabrics, water droplets and animal fur, and excels in both photorealistic and abstract styles.
The tool has been available in the Gemini, Whisk, Vertex AI apps and in the Slides, Videos, Docs and more apps in Workspace since Tuesday (20).
Help with font-based writing in Google DocsGoogle has also introduced a “Source-Based Writing Help” feature in Google Docs. With it, users can link to any relevant presentations, data, and reports directly in a document. Gemini will pull from only those sources when providing writing assistance, keeping suggestions focused and based on reliable content.
According to the company, the feature will be available to all users in the next half of the year.
