Tender opened to dredge quay in Costa Nova

The Ílhavo Council has opened a public tender for the maintenance dredging of the Costa Nova Fishermen's Wharf, for 250 thousand euros, according to an announcement published this Thursday in the Official Gazette.
The project, which has a base value of 250 thousand euros and a deadline of 60 days, aims to remove the silting caused by the deposition of sediments and maintain the depth of the area. The dredging of the Costa Nova Fishermen's Wharf, located opposite the Market on that beach in the municipality of Ílhavo, is considered “essential” for the fishermen of Costa Nova .
Maintenance dredging is required periodically so that local fishermen can carry out their activity “permanently and continuously, reducing the constraints caused by tidal variations”.
Located in the Mira Canal of the Aveiro estuary, the Costa Nova Fishermen's Wharf was opened in 2001 to improve the working conditions of the local fishing community. At the time, a maneuvering ramp was built and the wharf area was fenced, as well as the berthing area was dredged, with the support of European funds.
The structure was managed by the Ílhavo Council , with the participation of fishermen, through a monitoring committee.
The administration of the Port of Aveiro also announced this week that maintenance dredging will be carried out, which also includes the Small-Scale Fishing Shelter Port, also in the Mira Channel.
