Atlético-MG and Corinthians draw goalless in a tight game at Arena MRV

Atlético-MG and Corinthians drew 0-0 at Arena MRV on Saturday night (25), in the tenth round of the Brazilian Championship. In a game with a lot of marking and few clear opportunities, the teams each scored one point and continued without getting into gear in the competition.
The first half began with Corinthians trying to impose their rhythm, especially on the flanks. Talles Magno had a good chance when he received the ball free inside the area, but his shot was poor. Galo, in turn, relied on direct links with Hulk and Rony, but without precision in the final pass.
Atlético had the best chance of the first half. In the 46th minute, Rony was face to face with goalkeeper Hugo Souza, but shot straight at Corinthians' number 1. Before that, Hulk had taken advantage of a defensive error, but shot wide.
After the break, the game remained balanced and tight in the midfield. The defenses stood out and the goalkeepers worked little. Hulk tried a free kick, as did Scarpa, but both were stopped by good interventions from Hugo Souza.
Corinthians explored counterattacks with Romero and Bidon, but were ineffective. The only dangerous shot in the second half was from Junior Santos, who shot low and wide after a move down the right.
In the final minutes, Atlético still tried to press with balls thrown into the area, but without success. Lyanco almost scored with a shot from outside the area, and João Marcelo also caused danger with an aerial play, but the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Atlético-MG's next match will be on Thursday (29), for the Copa Sul-Americana, against Cienciano, at home. Corinthians will return to the field on Tuesday (27), when they face Huracan.
