Club World Cup will feature Palmeiras vs Botafogo in the round of 16; check out the games, dates and times

The third and final round of the FIFA Club World Cup group stage began on Monday, with the final matches of Groups A and B, and marked the confirmation of four qualifiers, in addition to the definition of two duels in the round of 16. The results will pit Palmeiras against Botafogo , in the first Brazilian clash of the competition, and Paris Saint-Germain against Inter Miami .

Abel Ferreira 's Palmeiras came into the match in first place, tied on points with the American team, but ahead on the tiebreaker criteria. A draw between the two teams would guarantee qualification for both, with the Brazilians in first. And that's exactly what happened: in an open game, the teams tied 2-2.

The result confirmed the Brazilian duel between Palmeiras and Botafogo in the round of 16, on Saturday, at 1 pm (Brasília time), in Philadelphia. Inter Miami, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, advanced and will now face PSG, on Sunday, at 1 pm, in Atlanta. In the other game in the group, Porto and Al-Ahly drew 4-4 and were eliminated, with two points each.

The clashes began to take shape on Monday afternoon, with the round being opened simultaneously with the two Group B duels. PSG confirmed their favoritism, beating Seattle Sounders 2-0 at Lumen Field in Seattle and securing their place in first place.

Botafogo, who had won their two previous games against the Americans and the French, were defeated by Atlético de Madrid 1-0, losing first place in the group. Even so, the Rio de Janeiro team, coached by Portuguese coach Renato Paiva , advanced to the round of 16 in second place and left the Spanish team out of the next phase on goal difference, as the three teams finished tied with six points.

This Tuesday, four more games take place in the third round, this time in Groups C and D. At 4 pm (Brasília time), Benfica and Bayern Munich face each other in Charlotte, while Auckland City and Boca Juniors play in Nashville.

Bayern Munich lead with six points, while Benfica are second with four. With one point, the Argentines are still dreaming of qualifying. The second-placed team in this group will face Flamengo , who have already qualified and are guaranteed first place in Group D.

Filipe Luís 's team will take to the field at 10pm (Brasília time) at Camping World Stadium in Orlando to face Los Angeles FC, which has already been eliminated. At the same time, Espérance and Chelsea will face off in Philadelphia. The Tunisians and the English have three points each and are fighting for the last spot in the group.

Fluminense and other teams complete the round between Wednesday and Thursday

The other Brazilian team in the competition, Fluminense , leads Group F with four points, ahead of Borussia Dortmund on goal difference. The team coached by Renato Gaúcho will only play on Wednesday, at 4 pm, in Miami, against Mamelodi Sundowns, third placed with three points and still in the running. The Germans will face, at the same time, the already eliminated Ulsan HD.

Fluminense's group will meet in the round of 16 with Group E, which currently has River Plate in the lead with four points, the same score as Inter Milan. The two teams will also face each other on Wednesday at 10pm in Seattle. Meanwhile, third-placed Monterrey, who are still fighting for a spot, will face Urawa Reds, who no longer have a chance of advancing.

The third round ends on Thursday, with the games in Groups G and H. At 4pm, Juventus and Manchester City, both with six points, will face off in Orlando to decide who will advance in first place. Meanwhile, the already eliminated Wydad Casablanca and Al-Ain, both with zero points, will play at Audi Field in Washington DC.

In Group H, Real Madrid are joint leaders alongside Red Bull Salzburg, both with four points. Al Hilal are third with three, while Pachuca are already eliminated with zero points. The Spanish and Austrian teams will face each other on Thursday at 10pm in Philadelphia. In Nashville, the Saudis will face the Mexicans.
