Farense transfers goalkeeper Ricardo Velho to Turkish side Gençlerbirligi

Goalkeeper Ricardo Velho will play until the end of the 2025/26 season for Gençlerbirligi, currently 18th and last in the Turkish Football League, on loan from Farense, the Portuguese II League team announced today.

"After so many saves, victories and unforgettable moments, our Ricardo Velho is now leaving on loan until the end of the season to Gençlerbirligi," the Algarve club revealed on social media.

Farense did not specify whether the loan of the 27-year-old goalkeeper, who was called up once by Roberto Martínez to the main team's training without having officially played, includes an option to buy the Turkish team, which has suffered four defeats in four league games.

"Thank you for your dedication, your confidence, and your decisive saves. This will always be your home," emphasizes the Algarve club, for which Ricardo Velho has played 109 games since 2020, when he moved to Faro from Sporting de Braga.

Farense , 14th in the II Liga after four rounds, with four points, faces Leixões, fifth, with seven, on Saturday in the fifth round game.
