Half-throttle campaign because of the derby

Most of the parties running for the legislative elections are currently concentrating their campaign activities in the north of the country, with AD, PS, Livre, BE, CDU and IL ending early due to the football match between Benfica and Sporting.

The seventh day of the campaign for the legislative elections on May 18th is also marked by the 'derby' that could be decisive for the title of national football champion, which leads most parties to schedule their actions in such a way as to leave the 90 minutes of the match between Benfica and Sporting scheduled for 6 pm at the Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, free.

The president of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, begins the day in Viana do Castelo, with contacts with the population and at 3 pm he has a rally in Vila Nova de Famalicão, in the district of Braga.

Also in Vila Nova de Famalicão will be the PS secretary general, Pedro Nuno Santos, where he will hold a lunch rally, but before that, at 10:30 am, he will pass through Santo Tirso to meet the population. Pedro Nuno Santos' day ends at 5 pm with a rally in Bragança.

The PCP's secretary general, Paulo Raimundo, will also be in the Braga district. In the morning, he will hold a parade in Guimarães and at 3 pm, the delegation will continue with another parade in Porto, starting at Largo dos Reis (ex-PIDE), followed by a rally at Campanhã station.

The BE delegation will also pass through Porto in the afternoon, where at 4 pm there will be the “Changing your life is a Party” action, but in the morning the coordinator of the Left Bloc, Mariana Mortágua, will have the “Race – Tax the rich” initiative in Lisbon, between the Lisbon Casino and Parque Tejo.

The Chega delegation will still travel north, with André Ventura starting the day with a visit to the municipal market in Vila Real, followed by a street party, and ending with dinner in Viseu.

The Liberal Initiative chose the seventh day of the campaign to mark “the emblematic day dedicated to sport”. The liberal delegation, led by Rui Rocha, will spend the morning on Carcavelos beach playing volleyball, football and other sporting activities with a view of the sea.

Livre's spokesperson, Rui Tavares, starts the day with a visit to the Alverca fair and, at 3 pm, visits the YouthCoop youth support cooperative in Agualva-Cacém, in the municipality of Sintra.

PAN spokesperson Inês de Sousa Real has the busiest agenda, which starts at 8:30 am at the Benfica market and ends at 10:45 pm with a visit to the Porto Academic Federation. During the day, Inês de Sousa will attend a demonstration near the Lisbon Zoo and visit Paredes, Paços de Ferreira and Matosinhos.
