In a very close finish, after the 188.5 kilometres between Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and Celorico da Beira, Jordi López came out on top, crossing the finish line in a time of 5:01:29 hours. The overall leader was second, with the same time, while fellow Spaniard Mikel Retegui (Kern Pharma) was third, three seconds behind. Right after him came the two-time defending champion, Russian Artem Nych (Anicolor-Tien 21), who led a group that crossed the finish line five seconds behind the winner. Tiago Leal, from Rádio Popular-Paredes-Boavista, was the best of the day among the Portuguese, in ninth place, also five seconds behind. In the overall classification, Thomas Silva continues to lead, but now has Jordi López in second place, six seconds behind. Mikel Retegui is third, 15 seconds behind.
Tomorrow, the third and final stage connects Pinhel to Seia, over 180.2 kilometres that includes the climb to Torre, the highest point in mainland Portugal. Artem Nych, winner of the 2024 Tour, starts the decisive stage in eighth place, 21 seconds behind the yellow jersey.
