Jorge Silas succeeds Tozé Marreco and is the new coach of Farense

Jorge Silas is the new coach of Farense , succeeding Tozé Marreco, signing a one-year contract with the club that was relegated to the II Football League, the Algarve SAD announced today.

"He brings with him experience, ambition and the determination that characterizes the Faro spirit. We are ready to write a new chapter", highlighted the Faro club on its social networks.

Farense is the ninth club in the 48-year-old coach's career, which began at Belenenses in 2017/18, and has since included spells at BSAD, Sporting, Famalicão, AEL Limassol (Cyprus), Mafra, Marítimo and União de Leiria.

In the 2024/2025 season, Jorge Silas commanded Marítimo, from the II League, between the fifth and eighth rounds, and, on the 11th round, he took over União de Leiria, from the same division, which he took from 12th place to sixth place in the final, with 57 points.

"It is with great pride, responsibility and ambition that I take on this challenge at Sporting Clube Farense. I know what this club represents, the strength of its fans and the history it carries," said the new Farense coach, quoted by the club.

Jorge Silas promised to “work with rigor, passion and daily commitment to honor” the Algarve emblem.

“We are counting on everyone — players, staff and our fans — to work together to make this journey a source of pride for the entire city of Faro and the Algarve region,” he stressed.

Tozé Marreco left the Farense coaching command at the end of May, by mutual agreement , following 17th place in the 2024/25 edition of the I Liga, with 27 points, and consequent relegation to the second tier.
