Judo/World Championships: Patrícia Sampaio will fight for the bronze medal

Judoka Patrícia Sampaio will fight for the bronze medal in -78 kg at the World Championships in Budapest, after losing in the semi-finals to German Anna Monta Olek, by yuko.
In a fight that was a repeat of the European final in Podgorica, where Patrícia Sampaio was crowned European champion, today it was the German who emerged victorious, scoring with the minimum advantage in the last 37 seconds.
Patrícia Sampaio, who was 'covered' with two punishments, did not have time to recover, while Olek took advantage of the remaining time to 'escape' from the fight, which also earned him a 'shido'.
Until the semi-finals, the Portuguese judoka, Olympic bronze medalist in Paris2024, beat Croatian Petrunjela Pavic (yuko), South Korean Minju Kim (two yuko) and Brazilian Karol Gimenes, in a fight that required extra time, with the Portuguese scoring a new yuko.
In the finals block, which will take place from 18:00 local time (17:00), Sampaio will face the Chinese Zhenzhao Ma, an opponent she has already beaten on two occasions, the last of which was in the quarter-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
