Petraglia is once again the target of Athletico fans; council member tries to hold an extraordinary meeting

President Mario Celso Petraglia was, once again, the target of protests and demands from Athletico fans. In the second half of the defeat to Atlético-GO , the director and the team were attacked by a large part of the 17,168 people who were at the Arena da Baixada.

The red-and-black stands, which also shouted “everyone out” and criticized the team, have seen a series of embarrassments since last year. Given this scenario of pressure, it is also worth remembering that Petraglia made promises in a meeting with members of the organized fan club Os Fanáticos , last month, and even insulted the fans in January.

The setback revives the turbulent scenario that Furacão has not been able to definitively overcome. In Série B, the team has 14 points in 11 games and is in 12th place. There is a 12-point difference between the leader Goiás and rival Coritiba , currently in fourth place.

For the third time, councilor Fernando Azevedo tries to call an extraordinary meeting of the Athletico Deliberative Council, chaired by Petraglia, to discuss actions in favor of the club. He is the same advisor that Petraglia told to shut up after being charged in a meeting held in February and who coordinates the movement “Nosso Athletico”, a group of fans that demands greater transparency from the current management .

However, for the meeting to take place, Azevedo needs the signature of two thirds of the 228 councilors, that is, the support of another 151 colleagues.

Even so, in an appealing tone, he denies that he wants to remove Petraglia from the position of president and warned that Furacão could be relegated.

“There is no coup here. We cannot continue as we are, we cannot wait any longer, we have only won 5 points in the last 21 matches. The time to act is now. 2024 is here to show us that waiting is not the best decision,” he wrote in the post he made on social media.

“Patience, as they ask of us, will take us to Series C,” he added on Instagram, in a warning tone.

After six months of relegation in the centenary, Athletico seeks to react with a new duel at home. The team is preparing to face Remo. The game takes place next Saturday (14), at 6:30 pm, at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba.

I believe that urgent measures are necessary to discuss and reverse the embarrassing situation of our participation in Series B 2025, where we are increasingly distant from our objective. The future of our Club Athletico Paranaense is in our hands. With the union of 2/3 of the councilors, we will be able to hold the aforementioned meeting, as required by the Statute, Art. 54, Clause II.

We cannot continue as we are, we cannot wait any longer, we have only won 5 points in the last 21 matches. The time to act is now. 2024 is here to show us that waiting is not the best decision.

The Presidency of the Administrative and Deliberative Council will try to convince you that the Councilor does not have this power, but we do. Just look at Article 58 – Powers of the Deliberative Council. Where our powers are guaranteed. It is all within our rights, it is all within the Bylaws that govern our Club.
