Sergio Conceição leaves as AC Milan coach

Portuguese Sergio Conceição has left the helm of AC Milan, the Italian football club announced today, thanking the coach for his professionalism and dedication in recent months.

“AC Milan and Sérgio Conceição will not continue their journey together next season. The club would like to thank Sérgio and his team for the commitment, professionalism and dedication they have shown in the months they have led the first team,” the Rossoneri said in a statement.

Conceição, 50, was officially appointed as Milan coach on December 30, succeeding fellow Portuguese Paulo Fonseca and signing a contract valid until June 2026.

“The AC Milan family is parting ways with the coach who won the 50th trophy in the club’s history, wishing him all the best for the future,” the statement concluded.

A week after taking charge of the team, the Portuguese coach won the Italian Super Cup, defeating Inter Milan 3-2 in the final.

However, in the league, the former FC Porto coach was unable to take the 'Rossoneri' beyond eighth place, the position they occupied when he arrived at the club, and lost the Italian Cup final against Bologna.

According to the Italian press, Massimiliano Allegri will be the next coach of AC Milan, having previously managed the club between 2010 and 2014.
