Sporting de Espinho lifts the Aveiro Cup and makes history

Sporting de Espinho won the Aveiro Football Cup for the first time today, beating Ovarense 4-1 in the final played at the Aveiro Municipal Stadium - Mário Duarte, which had an attendance of around four thousand spectators. In an unprecedented final of the Aveiro football festival, the “tigers” team found themselves behind in the 18th minute, when Tika scored the goal for Ovarense, who went into the break in the lead. But in the second half, an own goal by Esgueirão seven minutes after the restart allowed Sporting de Espinho to draw level and go on to a deserved victory with goals from Guerra (70'), Seidi (81') and Rodrigues (85').
In the end, the Espinho team celebrated, with the many fans present at the stadium, the first victory in its history, succeeding Estarreja as winner of the Aveiro Cup. By winning the trophy, Sporting de Espinho also guaranteed its presence in the first round of the Portuguese Cup next season.
