What will the 2025 edition of Museum Night in Porto Alegre be like?

The Night of Museums event, which takes place in Porto Alegre , Rio Grande do Sul, announced its ninth edition for November 29. The initiative allows the public to visit the collections and exhibitions of the participating locations for free from 6 pm to midnight.

The organization has encouraged connections between Gauchos and visitors in places severely impacted by the floods , such as Praça da Alfândega and Rua dos Andrades, in the Historic Center.

“Although a year has passed since the flood, the recovery of cultural activities and local producers, spaces and artists is still slow”, highlights Rodrigo Nascimento , creator of the event and president of the Noite dos Museus Institute.

He also reaffirms the importance of valuing the cultural heritage of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul . “With everything that has happened, it is even more important to turn our attention to cultural institutions and value public heritage. In this edition, our goal is to rebuild ties and memories with our city,” he concludes.

To give you an idea, the last edition of the event attracted 208 thousand people. For this year, 28 participating institutions have been confirmed, a record number of locations spread throughout the capital of Rio Grande do Sul .

New institutions and shows

In addition to the 22 institutions that participated in the event last year, the Night of Museums included six new names in the program, among them the Public Archive of the State of Rio Grande do Sul , the Commercial Association of Porto Alegre and the Leonardo da Vinci College — Alfa (see all participating institutions below).

The exhibitions are not the only attractions on the night of November 29: visitors will also be able to watch concerts , performances and artistic presentations at various points throughout the city. The complete artistic program, specific to each location participating in the event, will be announced in the coming months.
