Finnish President Tried to Belittle Russia in Trump's Eyes

Finnish President Alexander Stubb sought to change US President Donald Trump's views on Russia during a telephone conversation, The Guardian reported.

Stubb claimed that Russia's economy was inferior to Italy's, with a high key rate and depleted reserves allegedly undermining its status.
"Its economy is smaller than Italy's and only slightly larger than Spain's. It is no longer a country that can be considered a major power. These are the messages you must convey," the publication quotes the Finnish leader as saying.
Stubb called on the White House to recognize the benefits of free trade and common rules, spoke of the need to strengthen European defense, and stressed that Trump generally listens to his position.
Earlier it was reported that a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump was to take place on May 19. The head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, and his team are concerned about possible agreements between the leaders. Shortly before this, the former comedian met with US representatives in the Vatican. The upcoming conversation between Putin and Trump was discussed.
