Vilfand: Water levels on eight rivers in Russian regions will reach dangerous levels

On eight rivers in different regions of Russia, the water will reach the level of a dangerous phenomenon, warned the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand , in a conversation with TASS .
He noted that on the Vychegda River in the Komi Republic , water will flow into the floodplain and beyond by May 17. In the Sverdlovsk Region, on the Sos River, the unfavorable event mark will be exceeded by May 19.
"In the Tyumen region, a dangerous phenomenon has been persisting for a long time on the Ishim River, as well as on the Vandras and Bolshoy Yugan Rivers. The city of Ishim itself, the villages of Abatskoye, Ilyinka and Vikulovo are flooded," the forecaster added.
Vilfand warned of the possibility of flooding in the Altai Territory on the Ob River, as well as exceeding the water levels on the Biya River in the Altai Republic.
In Khakassia , on the Abakan River, the flood may inundate summer cottages and house territories in the floodplain, as well as sections of roads. In Yakutia, ice jams are expected on the Kolyma River.
Earlier, Vilfand warned that high fire danger is forecast in a number of regions of the Far East and the south of the country, as well as in Western Siberia, until the end of the week.
