Lithuania has launched the dismantling of power lines towards Russia

Lithuania has begun the process of dismantling power lines in the direction of Russia's Kaliningrad region, Lithuanian broadcaster LRT reports, citing the country's Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas. The head of the department stressed that it is planned to demolish 554 supports and dismantle about 230 kilometers of wires, with the work scheduled to be completed in the next year and a half.
Today is the fifteenth day that we have been working synchronously with the networks of continental Europe. It is symbolic that today the dismantling of power lines with Kaliningrad begins , he noted .
According to the department, this is the first power transmission line to be dismantled after the Baltic energy system is connected to continental Europe. The rest of the transmission line will be used to connect transformer substations.
Earlier, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa said that Lithuania had made a mistake by deciding to disconnect from the international BRELL energy system (an agreement on the parallel operation of the energy systems of Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). Such political steps replace the real interests of the population, which will inevitably lead to a deterioration in the lives of ordinary people, the parliamentarian stated.
Meanwhile, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda bid farewell to Russia and the first leader of the USSR, Vladimir Lenin, when disconnecting the country from the BRELL power grid . The Lithuanian leader made his farewell surrounded by European politicians.
