Novgorod divers take part in cleaning the Black Sea coast

Rescuers from the Novgorod Search and Rescue Squad have joined the joint diving group, which is currently collecting fuel oil in the area of the resort town of Anapa. The press service of the regional Emergencies Ministry Directorate stated that they are proud of our fellow countrymen.
According to the department, since the start of the work:
- 573.4 kilometers of coastline have been cleared;
- more than 164.5 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil were collected;
- More than 134 thousand tons were removed to temporary storage sites.
In the coastal areas of the resort town of Anapa and the Temryuk district, the joint diving group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations collects fuel oil from the bottom of the Black Sea every day:
- 7,092 descents were made;
- using remotely controlled unmanned underwater vehicles, almost 7.5 thousand square meters of the seabed were surveyed;
- 439 tons of waste were collected.
Almost 2 thousand tons of contaminated sand have been removed from the coast of Krasnodar Krai, the shores of Kerch and Sevastopol.
Meanwhile, local media write that the area around Anapa is indeed unusually quiet. Despite the ban, some people risk swimming, and sometimes even see dolphins in the sea.
It should be noted that the Russian Government has allocated an additional 7.5 billion rubles for the manufacture and installation of three protective structures (cofferdams) over the sunken tankers, which should serve as shelters for the tanks and prevent new leaks. Before this, the federal authorities had already allocated more than 1 billion rubles for the design of shelters and the dismantling of some of the sunken fragments of the tankers.
Let us recall that the bulk of the work to clean up the coast from the consequences of the tanker disaster was carried out by volunteers.
