Reduced endurance, slow recovery after physical exertion, worsening sleep quality and loss of muscle mass may be less noticeable signs of aging, Olga Tkacheva, chief geriatrician of the Russian Ministry of Health, director of the Russian Gerontological Scientific and Clinical Center of Pirogov University, doctor of medical sciences, professor, and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told RIA Novosti .
"The 'silent' signs of aging include decreased endurance, slower recovery after exercise, poor sleep, loss of muscle mass, changes in gait and posture, as well as forgetfulness, decreased concentration and mood," Tkacheva noted.
She stressed that many older people perceive these changes as natural, but their appearance serves as a reason for undergoing a medical examination.
It was previously reported that scientists have learned to predict the death of elderly people.
