A State Duma deputy has proposed a ban on keeping potentially dangerous dog breeds in apartment buildings, RIA Novosti reported.
The parliamentarian described the proposed measure as timely, citing the increasing number of attacks by such animals, which is causing growing public concern. He noted that even when walking dogs in designated areas, the path to them inevitably leads through public spaces where children may be present.
The legislator also noted that current regulations do not oblige owners to warn others about the presence of a dog belonging to a potentially dangerous breed.
The official government-approved list of potentially dangerous breeds includes the following: Akbash, American Bandogge, Ambulldog, Brazilian Bulldog, Bully Kutta, Alapaha Bulldog (Otto), Bandog, wolf-dog hybrids, wolfdog, Gulldog, Pitbull Mastiff, North Caucasian Shepherd Dog, and all their crossbreeds.
