Russia is awaiting approval from its Belarusian colleagues on the Osvey aircraft project to continue work on the design and technical documentation, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov told journalists.

"We have developed all the parameters of the project. Now the ball is in the court of our Belarusian partners. We are waiting for a positive conclusion from them," the minister explained, answering a question about the current status of the Russian-Belarusian aviation project.

In July 2023, at the Innoprom exhibition, the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation signed a comprehensive interdepartmental program on cooperation in the field of aircraft manufacturing. Agreements were also reached on the joint development and launch of serial production of a twin-engine 19-seat airliner in Belarus. The corresponding agreement was signed in 2024, giving the project the name "Osvey". As RIA Novosti reports, the Chairman of the State Military Industry Committee of Belarus Dmitry Pantus announced plans to create a prototype of joint aircraft by 2026.

In March 2025, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov reported that he expected the technical specifications of the Russian-Belarusian light twin-engine aircraft Osvey to be determined in April of this year.

It should be noted that Osvey is being developed for state aviation with the prospect of use in the civil sector. The key features of the model should be unprecedented operational stability and safety, including operation in extreme climatic conditions.
