Progress MS-28 to be sunk in Pacific Ocean

The Progress MS-28 cargo ship will be sunk in the Pacific Ocean after undocking from the ISS

The Progress MS-28 cargo ship will undock from the Russian segment of the International Space Station on February 25, after which it will be deorbited and sunk in an impassable area of the Pacific Ocean, RIA Novosti reports.
Progress MS-28 will separate from the Zvezda service module at 23:17 Moscow time, completing its six-month stay on the ISS.
On February 26 at 2:25 Moscow time, the engine is planned to be turned on for braking and deorbiting. The ship will enter the atmosphere, disintegrate, and its unburned parts will fall into a safe area for shipping in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean.
Earlier, Russian cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin, Ivan Vagner and Alexander Gorbunov prepared equipment for removal from Progress MS-28 before undocking.
The Progress MS-28 spacecraft has been on the Russian segment of the ISS since August 17, 2024. It delivered not only standard cargo, but also equipment for various experiments, including the All Sky Monitor X-ray spectrometer, which was installed on the outer surface of the station during a spacewalk on December 19, 2024.
During its stay at the Progress MS-28 station, its propulsion system performed 10 ISS orbital corrections, including two space debris avoidance operations conducted on November 19 and 25, 2024.
At the same time, it was reported that space debris began to threaten the Earth with catastrophe.
