Scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with colleagues from Lithuania and Great Britain, have come to the conclusion that the most attractive body type for women is not a thin or overweight body, but a moderately overweight one.
Female volunteers were shown dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scans of men (not regular photographs, mind you) and asked to rate the men's attractiveness.
The volunteers considered male bodies with a body mass index of 23 to 27 to be the most attractive, with a level of 25 being considered overweight. The "preferred" percentage of fat tissue was about 14 percent, which is lower than that of obese people, but higher than that of thin people or those with high muscle mass.
