Orenburg is hosting the Russian Table Tennis Championships for the hearing impaired for the second year in a row

From May 14 to 18, the Orenburg Table Tennis Center will become a venue for prestigious all-Russian competitions. This year, the tournament brought together 11 teams from seven regions of the country, who are fighting for the title of the strongest.

On the first day of the competition, team tournaments were held. The men's team of the Orenburg Region showed a brilliant result, winning all five matches and winning gold medals. The winning team included Egor Astafyev, Igor Borisov, as well as students of the Fakel-Gazprom school Viktor Mansurov and Mikhail Sidorov under the guidance of coach Yuri Shlykov.

Among the women's teams, the first place was taken by athletes from the Chuvash Republic, the second place by representatives of Moscow, and the third place by teams from the Kemerovo Region and St. Petersburg.

The grand opening of the championship took place on May 15 with the participation of honorary guests: Vice-Governor Dmitry Kulagin, member of the Legislative Assembly Damir Fakhrutdinov, chairman of the regional branch of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf Ilfat Kudakayev and other officials. In his speech, Dmitry Kulagin noted the importance of developing adaptive sports in the region and the availability of table tennis for all categories of the population.

The final games in singles and doubles, as well as the award ceremony, will take place on May 18. The organizers note the high level of training of athletes and the growing interest in Paralympic sports in the Orenburg region.

This tournament confirms the status of Orenburg as one of the centers for the development of sports for people with disabilities in Russia. Last year, the championship was also successfully held on Orenburg sites, which became a decisive factor in choosing the venue for this year's competition.
