Investigation focused on Izmir Metropolitan Municipality: Number of detentions increased to 137

The number of detentions in the 'corruption' investigation focused on the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality (IzBB) has increased to 137.
The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Terrorism and Organized Crimes and Organized Crime Bureau, launched an investigation into the alleged corruption of İZBETON A.Ş., a subsidiary of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, through subcontractor companies.
In this context, taking into account the Court of Accounts, property inspector and expert reports, detention orders were issued for 157 suspects on charges of 'rigging the tender and performance of the obligation' and 'aggravated fraud' .
On July 1, 126 people, including former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, were detained. The number of detainees rose to 130 yesterday, and seven more people were detained today.
