Minister Uraloğlu: YHTs served more than 100 million passengers

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in a written statement that they put Türkiye's first high-speed train line between Ankara and Eskişehir into service on March 13, 2009. Minister Uraloğlu said, "We have made our country the 6th high-speed train operator in Europe and the 8th in the world. With the opening of the Ankara-Konya, Ankara-Istanbul, Konya-Karaman and most recently Ankara-Sivas lines, we are providing our citizens with comfortable transportation opportunities on a total of 2,251 kilometers of high-speed and rapid railway network."
'YHTs COVERED 98.2 MILLION KILOMETERS'Stating that they have passed an important threshold in high-speed railway transportation as of June 30, 2025, Uraloğlu said, "YHTs have served more than 100 million passengers and traveled 98.2 million kilometers since the date they started service. This corresponds to 2,451 laps around the world."

Noting that the Ankara-Istanbul line carries the most passengers with 38 million people, Uraloğlu noted that the Ankara-Konya line with 21.4 million passengers and the Ankara-Eskişehir line with 21 million passengers follow. Minister Uraloğlu said, "Since the date they were put into service, we have served 12.3 million passengers on the Konya-Istanbul line, 2.4 million passengers on the Karaman-Ankara line, 1.7 million passengers on the Karaman-Istanbul line, 1.8 million passengers on the Ankara-Sivas line, 660 thousand passengers on the Sivas-Istanbul line and 900 thousand passengers on the Eskişehir-Istanbul line."
'WE PROVIDE HST SERVICE TO 20 CITIES'Uraloğlu stated that they provide YHT service to a total of 20 cities and 51 percent of Türkiye's population through direct and combined transportation, and continued as follows:
"High-speed trains provide direct service to Ankara, Eskişehir, Konya, Bilecik, Sakarya, Kocaeli, İstanbul, Karaman, Yozgat, Kırıkkale and Sivas. Combined transportation is provided to Adana, Afyonkarahisar, Antalya, Bursa, Denizli, Kütahya, Mersin, Malatya and Tokat with bus or train connections. Combined transportation provided with high-speed train and bus or high-speed train and conventional train connections provides significant time savings compared to travel by bus."
