June hits record high temperature; 4th hottest June in 55 years

In the final days of June, all-time high temperatures were measured in some regions. The record of 41.4 degrees Celsius set in İzmir city center in 2024 rose to 41.8 degrees Celsius on June 27 this year. Also in Dikili, İzmir, the record temperature of 41 degrees Celsius set in 1942 was surpassed by 41.7 degrees Celsius on June 27, 2025. In Seferihisar, the record of 40.5 rose to 40.6 degrees Celsius, while in Florya, Istanbul, the record of 36.2 degrees Celsius, which had not been surpassed since 1982, was surpassed this year by 36.3 degrees Celsius. In Sinop, the record of 33.2 degrees Celsius set in 2007 was rewritten with 33.7 degrees Celsius.
Temperature assessment by regionIn MGM's temperature analysis report, regional averages and extreme values for June were included as follows:
Marmara: While the long-term average was 22.0 °C, it became 23.5 °C in June 2025. The lowest temperature was recorded as 9.2 °C in Balıkesir, and the highest as 40.2 °C in Lüleburgaz.
Aegean: The average temperature increased from 23.7 °C to 25.8 °C. The lowest temperature was 6.5 °C in Simav, and the highest temperature was 43.9 °C in Milas.
Mediterranean: The long-term average temperature rose from 24.0 °C to 25.8 °C this year. The lowest temperature was 4.6 °C in Göksun, and the highest was 43.0 °C in Dalaman.
Central Anatolia: The average temperature was 20.4 °C, with a temperature of 19.3 °C. The lowest temperature was 1.5 °C in Kangal, and the highest temperature was 36.5 °C in Çankırı.
Black Sea: The average temperature, which is 19.8 °C, reached 20.1 °C this year. The lowest value was 3.4 °C in Bayburt, and the highest value was 37.8 °C in Beypazarı.
Eastern Anatolia: The average temperature increased from 19.1 °C to 19.9 °C. The lowest temperature was -0.2 °C in Erzurum, and the highest was 38.4 °C in Ergani.
Southeastern Anatolia: The average temperature increased from 27.2 °C to 29.2 °C. The lowest temperature was 12.8 °C in Batman, and the highest was 45.6 °C in Cizre.
The average rainfall across Turkey for June was measured at 12.5 mm. This was 63% below the 33.6 mm average between 1991 and 2020. The lowest June rainfall recorded in the Marmara Region in 65 years and in Central Anatolia in 22 years.
