Red-handed attempt at horse slaughter in Izmir

The incident took place in an abandoned house in the Hilal neighborhood of Konak district on February 23. Police conducted an operation at the address after receiving a tip that a horse was being slaughtered.

Mert Ö. (42), Abdülbaki Ö. (24), Cani İ. (24) and A.Ö. (16), who were determined to have been slaughtering animals illegally, were detained by the police. During the searches conducted at the address, horse parts that had been slaughtered were also found.

Upon the prosecutor's instructions, A.Ö. was handed over to his family. The 3 suspects, who were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station, were released on condition of judicial control.

It was learned that the suspects were preparing to put the meat on the market before the month of Ramadan.
