According to the information received, Muhammed Gürcan Koçak stopped on the emergency lane due to a breakdown while he was driving the ATV he was driving on the Istanbul Airport road in the direction of Göktürk with his cousin Sultan Ömer Aksu on February 22. While he was waiting for a tow truck with his cousin, a minibus hit Koçak and fled the scene.
Koçak, who was taken to Seyrantepe Training and Research Hospital with serious injuries by the medical teams that came to the region upon Aksu's notification, could not be saved despite the intervention.
Koçak was buried in Yeniköy Cemetery in Sarıyer.
The work launched by police teams to catch the driver continues.
"IF HE HAD CALLED 112, MAYBE MY SON WOULD BE ALIVE NOW"
Father Soner Koçak, in his statement to reporters, stated that the incident was a murder.
Noting that the driver has not yet surrendered, Koçak said, "I call this person a murderer. If he had stopped there, wanted to help, called 112, maybe my son would be alive right now. I call him a murderer because he ran away. If he has any humanity left in him, he will surrender to justice."

Father Koçak, who said that they pulled over to the emergency lane when they saw smoke rising from the ATV on the day of the incident, and that the driver hit his son and fled, said, "My son's wedding was 4 months later. We prepared everything. While preparing for my son's wedding, I organized a funeral ceremony. The location was reserved, the belongings were taken. We were just waiting for the date. That was his fate."
Father Koçak added that he called out to the authorities and asked for support in catching the driver.
