Palestinian filmmaker Hanna Atallah is coming to Türkiye

The "July 15 Resistance Stage Event Program", which was implemented by the July 15 Association with the support of the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was announced. Accordingly, the movie "From Ground Zero" will be shown at the Atlas Cinema in Istanbul at 16:00 on July 8. Following the movie, Hanna Atallah, one of the world-renowned names of Palestinian cinema, will give a talk at the same cinema at 19:00. Produced by Palestinian director-producer Rashed Masharawi, "From Ground Zero" consists of short films shot by 22 young filmmakers while the genocide in Gaza continues. The film, which premiered at the 5th Amman International Film Festival, had its North American premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival. The film was selected as the Palestinian entry for the Best International Feature Film category of the 97th Academy Awards and was shortlisted. Hanna Atallah is a Berlin- and Jerusalem-based filmmaker and cultural arts administrator, founder and artistic director of Filmlab Palestine, director of the Palestine Cinema Days Film Festival, and co-founder of August Films, and is recognized for her efforts in developing the Palestinian film industry and supporting new cinematic voices. Focusing on storytelling that elevates marginalized and underrepresented narratives, Atallah’s recent works include Laila Abbas’s “Thank You for Banking with Us” and Maha Haj’s “Upshot.”
