More than half of Istanbul residents cannot pay their credit card debt

Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) published the "Istanbul Barometer" survey for January. More than 50 percent of those who participated in the survey said that their domestic agenda was economic problems, while nearly 50 percent said they had difficulty making ends meet.
The results of the research, which was conducted by interviewing a thousand Istanbulites over the phone, were as follows:
In January, the domestic agenda of Istanbulites was economic problems and the fire disaster that occurred in Bolu Kartalkaya.
53.9 percent of the participants said that economic problems, 13.5 percent said the fire disaster in Kartalkaya in Bolu and 4.5 percent said health problems were on their domestic agendas.
NEARLY 50 PERCENT HAD DIFFICULTY TO MAKE A LIVES23 percent of the participants in the survey stated that they could not make ends meet and could not meet some of their payments and basic needs.
11.5 percent of them stated that they can easily get by and save, 38.8 percent of them can get by but do not put aside any money, and 26.7 percent of them can barely make ends meet by cutting back on some additional expenses.
DEBT WAS PAID IN JANUARY TOO50.2 percent of the participants said they borrowed money from banks via consumer loans, 27.3 percent from banks' flexible account services, and 16.5 percent from close friends.
55 PERCENT COULD NOT PAY THEIR CREDIT CARD DEBT44.1 percent of credit card users stated that they can pay their entire monthly credit card debt, while 32.5 percent stated that they can pay the minimum amount of the debt.
While 8.7 percent stated that they could pay an amount between the minimum amount and the entire debt, 4.9 percent stated that they could pay less than the minimum amount, and 9.8 percent stated that they could not pay their credit card debt at all.
WHAT IS THE SATISFACTION RATE OF EMPLOYEES WITH THEIR JOB?Of those who participated in the survey, 75.4 percent said they were satisfied with their job. 13.7 percent said they were partially satisfied and 10.9 percent said they were not satisfied.
STRESS LEVEL IS HIGHIn the study, participants were asked about their emotional state in January and were asked to rate it out of 10. Accordingly, the average stress level of Istanbulites was measured as 7.2, while the anxiety level was measured as 6.6. Life satisfaction in January was 4.5 and happiness level was 4.9. Participants' hope for the future was measured as 4.2.
DISCOUNT MARKETS AND NEIGHBORHOOD MARKETS ARE PREFERREDParticipants were asked where they shop for their household food and basic needs. Accordingly, 26.1 percent said they always prefer discount markets, 23.6 percent said they always prefer neighborhood markets. 75.5 percent of participants said they never shop at organic markets, and 62.6 percent said they never shop at online markets.
WHAT HAPPENED TO INVESTMENT PREFERENCES?Of the participants who stated that they were able to save, 59.7 percent invested in gold, 15.9 percent in stocks and 13.1 percent in cryptocurrencies.
