Retired citizens are in a difficult situation: 'We are in need of even chicken crumbs'

With Ramadan just around the corner, citizens have begun preparing for iftar. While the prices of food products are burning a hole in their pockets, retirees are having difficulty accessing basic food products. A retired citizen in Osmaniye said, "In previous Ramadans, we used to buy our own meat, but now we are in need of chicken scraps."
The retired citizen said, "I am retired, of course we need to shop for Ramadan. The salary is normal. I can't buy everything, I can only buy it in a way that is manageable. Meat, milk are normal, I can't buy them all as much as I say. For example, you can buy them for a week, but not for the next week. You have to try to manage yourself. Since I don't have rent, I manage with it. We are like this, we are villagers, we have some side income from there, that is enough, it wouldn't be enough if I were in the city."
"RETIREES ARE IN NEED OF ZAKAT"Another retiree said:
-I am retired. When Ramadan comes, many things increase especially. Especially retirees have become needy for alms and zakat. As retirees, we know how to buy food and nutrition better than a doctor, we also know the authority of the government. While they eat for 200-300 thousand liras, we think we eat for 14 thousand 500 liras.
-We are not stupid people. If bread fills the stomach, then animals fill their stomachs by eating grass in the mountains. What is the difference between us and them? After we die, take the money you were going to give and it is yours.
-What are we going to do in Ramadan? We will not buy food and live like animals. If that's what they want to do, then go ahead. If I eat once a day with 14,500 liras, it would be 15,000 liras in the market. After that, they teach me to be grateful. Here, be grateful and let's have some fun. We are not carp.
"WE NEEDED EVEN CHICKEN CRUMBS"Another retired citizen said, "I am retired. My salary is not enough, I have no preparations right now. I still haven't been able to buy even a single grape for my home, excuse me. With the help of God, we buy from there and give to there. It has been 25 years since I retired during Ramadan, we used to buy our meat before, now we are in need of even chicken scraps."
"THEY DIDN'T LEAVE US A CHANCE TO SURVIVE"Another retiree said, "Is it possible to go shopping? You can't go to the market, you can't go to the supermarket. We only eat meat from one holiday to another. Everything used to be made in the past. It was pastry, buns during Ramadan. We used to eat meat, milk, eggs, now we can't see anything. Eggs are 10 liras. We will tie our feet to the stone and go to the Ceyhan River, we will throw ourselves into the deepest part. They didn't leave us any other chance to live."
