Unemployment fund did not help workers

"The Unemployment Insurance Fund belongs to workers and should be used to protect their income," she said. Recalling that the percentage of income that can be used from the Unemployment Insurance Fund has been increased from 30% to 50%, Arzu Çerkezoğlu emphasized in a statement in Ankara that this regulation will further reduce the share workers receive from the Fund.
Çerkezoğlu, noting that the fund will be channeled more to employers through active labor programs or incentives, continued: “Increasing the share allocated from the Unemployment Insurance Fund poses risks for workers. The areas where the 50% share is spent have negative consequences for workers. The fund, which consists of workers' income, has been transformed into an employer support fund. Over the last year and a half, payments made to workers from the fund constituted 28.5% of total expenses, while the amount transferred to employers constituted 69% of total expenses. Employers received more than twice as much of the workers' share from the fund created for workers.”
