Bruce Willis lives with caregivers away from his family

Bruce Willis, who retired from film due to illness and has been living a secluded life, now lives away from his family in a home with 24-hour caregivers. His wife, Emma Heming, discussed the 70-year-old actor's condition in the ABC documentary "Emma & Bruce Willis: An Unexpected Journey."
Heming, 47, the mother of Willis's two daughters, responded to the backlash she received on social media for her decision to live separately from her husband. "What I knew was that by sharing our intimate knowledge, these two different opinions would emerge," Heming said. "There would be a divide between people with opinions and people with real experiences," she said, emphasizing that caregivers are often judged.
Heming noted that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but he added, "You have to remind yourself that most people don't have the experience to back it up. Since no one is in your home who is knowledgeable about dementia or the illness you're caring for, you don't know how the patient behaves or the family dynamics."
Bruce Willis was diagnosed with aphasia, a dysfunction in certain parts of the brain that affects speech, comprehension, and reading and writing skills, in 2022. His condition, later updated to frontotemporal dementia, led Willis to quit acting due to health problems.
Heming, who shared new information about her husband's health in the documentary, said, "Bruce can still move. His overall health is good. The real problem is his brain is failing him. His language skills are weakening. We've learned to adapt to this; we have very different ways of communicating."
