A restaurant fire in Erzurum spread to a hotel and surrounding buildings.

A fire broke out overnight at a Cağ Kebabı restaurant on Kongre Street in the Yakutiye district of Erzurum, quickly spreading to the roofs of adjacent buildings. Numerous firefighters, police, and paramedics were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report. Crews continued their intensive work to bring the blaze under control. Residents in the buildings where the fire had spread were evacuated. Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi arrived at the scene, conducted an investigation, and received information from authorities. Governor Çiftçi stated that the cause of the fire would be determined by a fire department report.
Çiftçi said that after the fire was reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center, a Metropolitan Municipality fire truck responded within four minutes. However, due to the wind, the flames quickly spread to the adjacent business and hotel, before engulfing three buildings. Çiftçi emphasized that the fire was brought under control by 2:30 a.m.
Governor Çiftçi noted that 25 fire trucks and water trucks responded to the fire, but as the flames spread, three foam-spraying vehicles and TOMAs (riot control vehicles) from the State Airports Authority (DHA) were dispatched to the scene. He stated that the fire was completely brought under control after approximately two and a half hours of intensive work by the teams, and that cooling efforts were ongoing. Çiftçi expressed his greatest consolation in the absence of any casualties, explaining that there were four guests at the hotel where the fire spread, and that their rapid evacuation prevented any potential loss of life.
Governor Çiftçi reported that a total of four buildings were affected by the fire: two restaurants, a hotel next door, and a building on the other side. He stated that citizens in need of shelter would be accommodated in hotels by the Yakutiye District Governor's Office. He also stated that necessary measures would be taken to prevent citizens from stranding themselves on the streets. Çiftçi stated that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office would launch a judicial and administrative investigation into the fire and that necessary action would be taken against anyone found to be at fault or negligent.
