Date given: OpenAI's step towards an 'artificial intelligence accelerator'

OpenAI has decided to collaborate with Broadcom to produce and deploy AI accelerators designed by the company.
In a statement, OpenAI and Broadcom stated that the two companies will jointly develop systems that include Broadcom's accelerator and Ethernet solutions.
In the statement, it was noted that the companies are collaborating for 10 gigawatt artificial intelligence accelerators, and that OpenAI will design the accelerators and systems, develop and commission them together with Broadcom.
The statement explained that OpenAI will be able to design its own chips and systems and integrate the knowledge it has gained while developing advanced artificial intelligence models and products directly into the hardware.
PLANNED TO BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF 2029The statement also included information that Broadcom plans to begin installing racks of AI accelerators and network systems in the second half of 2026 and complete them by the end of 2029.
The statement noted that OpenAI has reached more than 800 million weekly active users, and that this collaboration will help the company advance its mission of "ensuring that artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity."
