NASA's 2,145 employees may leave their jobs

According to documents obtained by Politico magazine, more than 2,000 senior NASA personnel will be leaving their positions. The documents suggest that the majority of the 2,145 personnel slated to leave will leave under the Trump administration's proposed options of early retirement, voluntary separation with severance pay, or deferred resignation.
It was stated that the majority of those who left their jobs worked in areas where NASA's scientific studies were carried out.
In addition, it is anticipated that the work carried out for Mars and the Moon may be negatively affected due to the decrease in the number of personnel in the institution as a result of the layoffs.
Trump withdrew the nomination of billionaire businessman Jared Isaacman, a friend of billionaire businessman Elon Musk, for NASA Director and appointed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy as NASA "Interim Director."
After taking office, President Donald Trump fired thousands of jobs at federal agencies through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
As a result of mass layoffs, especially involving new hires, many unions and organizations across the country filed lawsuits against the Trump administration.
