Prince Harry will always be alone - every decision he makes is a middle finger at the Firm

Prince Harry will always be alone - every decision he makes is a middle finger at the Firm

If Prince Harry really wants to make amends with the Royal Family he’s going about it completely the wrong way. After years of attacks against his family and the institution he was brought up in, the Duke of Sussex was said to be keen on patching things up.

The Firm weren’t convinced about his change in tack and, since his rushed visit to see the King immediately after his cancer diagnosis was made public, Harry has been kept at arm's length. Father and son are not understood to have seen each other since that brief meeting last February, when weeks later Harry went on American television and said he “loved” his family and spoke of his hope that illness “brings families together”.

That was his first mistake, showing the Palace that a leopard never changes its spots.

Even though he made no bombshell revelations, the fact remained: Harry was still willing to discuss his family in front of a global audience.

And now Harry is at it again, briefing against the Royal Family to trusted members of the press. Just as his father landed back in the UK after his successful tour of Italy, the Duke said he believes that his security was stripped in a bid to “force” him to stay in Britain after he announced they were stepping down as senior royals.

It shows that Harry blames the police protection row on the King. Then, to make matters worse, Sussex-friendly magazine People, reported that Harry’s calls and letters to his father remain unanswered. The insider claimed that the rift is so bad that Harry found out about the King’s recent hospitalisation through the media.

But when will Harry realise that if he’s serious about a rapprochement, the public comments have to stop. All he does is prove that he can’t be trusted, so if he wants to be let back in, he needs to learn to keep a lid on his grievances and stop giving the Firm the middle finger.

The King And The Queen Attend The 2025 Royal Maundy Service

Happy Easter! I’ll be at Windsor Castle today covering the annual Easter Mattins Church Service at St George’s Chapel.

It’s a staple royal event, and this year, it’s expected to be business as usual after only a handful of senior royals attended due to the unprecedented health crisis. Though the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children will not be attending.

But as I report on the Royal Family’s Easter tradition, I’ve been left scratching my head over a Ferguson family tradition.

Every year, I give up chocolate for Lent, waiting to indulge in a Malteaser bunny, chocolate nests and mini eggs until Easter Sunday. But this week I learned that Lent actually ends on Maundy Thursday, and I feel like my entire childhood has been a lie.

The 28 years of trickery stops now however, as I tucked into some chocolate while covering the Royal Maundy Service.

Finding Freedom, The Biography Of The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex, Publishes In The UK Today

Sussex cheerleader Omid Scobie is releasing a new book – but instead of divulging bombshell royal secrets, he’s making a foray into the world of fiction.

The former royal writer, who shot to fame after he co-authored Finding Freedom, a biography of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which he wrote with the help of Meghan Markle’s aides, has written a new romance novel.

The book follows Lauren, a Buckingham Palace press officer, who finds herself embroiled in office politics, scandals and a love triangle. It’s billed as a “fun, fish-out-of-water romantic workplace comedy” and has already secured a TV deal with Universal.

Courtiers will no doubt be breathing a sigh of relief that Scobie has put a pause in his tireless pursuit of spouting Meghan’s so-called truth.

Meghan Markle will speak at the TIME100 Summit (Image: Getty)

Meghan Marklewill join an impressive list of stars at this year’s TIME100 Summit in New York City this week. On Wednesday, the Duchess of Sussex will join actors Demi Moore and Ryan Reynolds, Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos and the director-general of the World Health Organization who have been invited to speak at the day-long event.

It’s most interesting that the magazine decided to list Meghan first – a move that implies she is the keynote speaker. But do her achievements really compare to A-list actors, successful politicians, respected directors of globally important bodies and pioneers in their field?

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

The Prince of Wales’s new hire is an interesting one. Jason Knauf, former CEO of The Royal Foundation and ex-communications secretary at Kensington Palace, has been appointed as chief executive of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize.

He’s replacing Hannah Jones, who’s stepping down after four years in the role.

Why is this move curious you may ask? Because Jason – who also worked for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – was the aide who accused Meghan Markle of bullying staff “out of the royal household”. In February, he gave a bombshell TV interview where he spoke publicly about the controversy, which Meghan strenuously denies, and said he “wouldn’t change anything” and has “no regrets”.

Elsewhere in the interview, he lavished praise on William and Kate and the estrangement between the royal brothers has been “hard and sad”.
