Chappell Roan Looks Unrecognizable in Strawberry Blonde Hair

Chappell Roan has become known for a few things: being a Grammy-winning artist, a music festival legend, and her vibrant red hair.

The “Pink Pony Club” singer could likely be spotted from afar just from her lengthy auburn curls alone, which is why it was so jarring to see her in any other hairstyle. On Friday, May 16, Roan shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, showing off a new hairdo that's different from her usual long locks. Instead of her thick curly hair cascading down her back, Roan was rocking a straight, strawberry blonde hairstyle.

Obviously, any shade of ginger seems to be her color, but this lighter version is definitely a step away from her darker locks. Roan said on her Instagram Story that she redownloaded the social media app in search of a perfume, and echoed the sentiment under her caption:

“Will the girl who I just met at the perfume store please comment the perfume you recommended. I wrote it down and just deleted it on accident. The world ‘girl’ was in the brand name & you said it smelled like lipstick. Thank you.”

In the photos, Roan is shown standing in an elevator, holding a coffee cup, and wearing a plaid scarf wrapped around her shoulders, along with sunglasses. Her strawberry blonde hair hangs straight down past her shoulders. In the second photo, Roan shows a closer view of the hair, along with her glasses and dark lip.

It's unclear whether Chappell Roan dyed her hair this color, or if she's simply wearing a wig. The musician isn't one to shy away from wigs or other fun disguises — like when she showed up to Gov Ball last year in full Statue of Liberty drag, complete with a green-colored wig. Time will tell on if the hair is here to stay.
