Liam Payne's Netflix show to undergo major change as streaming giant fears backlash

Liam Payne's Netflix show Building The Band will undergo a major change.
Bosses working on the Netflix show, which will air later this year, are reportedly keen to "err on the side of caution" following Liam's death. Liam tragically died last year after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires.
Before his death, Liam had been working on a new show for Netflix called Building The Band, which saw him be a guest judge on the show. He filmed the scenes in the UK just months before his tragic death.
Now bosses of the Netflix show are keen to keep Liam's scenes to a minimum as to not anger fans. They want to "strike the right balance" with Liam's appearance on the show and have been in discussions with the family.
"The feeling among execs at Netflix is that they want to err on the side of caution, and if that means having Liam in the least amount of scenes possible then that’s the step they’re willing to take," a source told The Sun.
"They want to strike the right balance between having him feature in the show, doing the thing he loved, with having him feature too much, which would be a lot for his loved ones to contend with."
They added: "Discussions are ongoing with Liam’s family, and their views are a crucial consideration for Netflix. But fans may be surprised by how little he ends up featuring in the finished series. The one option they probably don’t have is to remove him entirely from the show, even if they wanted to, because he’s an intrinsic part of the process the boy bands go through on the series."
The Mirror have contacted representatives of Netflix for comment.
Building The Band will also feature Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) and Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) as judges alongside Liam and will be hosted by The Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean.
The contestants are incredible singers but they are hoping to find their perfect bandmates, based on music interests and their connection, in the hope of achieving the success of the boy and girl bands before them.
Describing the series, they said: "All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit... with incredible performances, compelling drama, and one goal - to find the next great music band - the stage is set for an unforgettable experience."
