Ryan wins second All-Ireland Poc Fada title

Limerick’s Colin Ryan was crowned M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada champion amid gale force winds in the Cooley Mountains yesterday.
The 2018 All-Ireland SHC winner regained the title after a four-year lapse on a day when two of the four sections on the Annaverna Mountain course were abandoned due to the prevailing winds.
Ryan had just 13 metres to spare over 2018 and ’19 winner Cillian Kiely from Offaly after completing the course in 25 pucks, while three-in-a-row chasing Fionan Mackessy – who joined the Kilkenny hurlers from his native Kerry this year – had to settle for third place.
Legendary Tipperary goalkeeper and nine-time Poc Fada champions Brendan Cummins finished in seventh place.
Cork’s Molly Lynch completed a five-in-a-row of senior camogie wins in 27 pucks, while the U16 boys and U16 camogie winners were Westmeath’s Conor Raleigh and Siofra Ginty from Offaly.
