Director Barrie Kosky invents a new opera by Vivaldi for the Salzburg Whitsun Festival: "Hotel Metamorphosis" based on texts by Ovid. A triumph of imagination.

Myrrha is in need; she desires her father. Her father is a pretty cool guy who loves her very much, but only as a daughter. Lea Desandre sings of a storm that rages not on the sea, but inside Myrrha. Meanwhile, her father has four suitors come dancing, literally dancing, agile guys in suits who try hard but achieve nothing. Myrrha throws them out of the hotel room in which this evening more or less takes place. The story of Myrrha and her father is 2,000 years old; Ovid wrote it down. Now it has been turned into an opera , as part of the pastiche "Hotel Metamorphosis," which director Barrie Kosky and dramaturge Olaf A. Schmitt conceived for the Salzburg Whitsun Festival.
