DAX slightly lower: Siemens, Deutsche Telekom, Allianz, RWE, Merck KGaA, Alibaba, BMW, Bayer in focus

The DAX is currently consolidating at a high level. On Wednesday, the German benchmark index closed 0.5 percent lower at 23,527.01 points. And the consolidation is likely to continue today, Thursday. Broker IG estimates the DAX down 0.3 percent this morning at 23,464 points.
On the futures side, the focus this afternoon will be on producer prices in the US. There will also be a whole series of quarterly figures. Reports include Siemens, RWE, Merck KGaA, Allianz, Thyssenkrupp, Deutsche Telekom, ProSiebenSat.1, TAG Immobilien, Douglas, Birkenstock, Borussia Dortmund, Walmart, and Alibaba. Several annual general meetings will also take place, including those of Hugo Boss, Aixtron, E.on, Heidelberg Materials, Adidas, Commerzbank, Redcare Pharmacy, and United Internet.
Investors should note that some stocks are trading ex-dividend again today: BMW ex dividend of EUR 4.30 per share, Deutsche Börse ex EUR 4.00, Bilfinger ex EUR 2.40 and Traton ex EUR 1.70.
The winners and losers in the DAX from the previous day will also likely remain in focus. Daimler Truck, E.on, and Heidelberg Materials performed strongly. Bayer, Qiagen, and Zalando, on the other hand, were at the bottom of the DAX.
Bitcoin and gold have recently corrected somewhat. One Bitcoin costs $102,497 on Thursday morning. A troy ounce of gold is trading at $3,142.
US stock markets again found themselves divided on Thursday. The leading Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.2 percent to 42,051.06 points. The broad-based S&P 500, however, gained slightly by 0.1 percent to 5,892.58 points. Meanwhile, the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 gained 0.6 percent to 21,319.21 points.
Asian stock markets largely declined this morning. Japan's leading index, the Nikkei 225, lost one percent. The CSI 300, which tracks the most important mainland Chinese stocks, lost 0.8 percent, as did the Hang Seng index of the Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong.
