Medicine: How much protein do you need for bulging muscles?

Reading time: 7 min.
|A defined upper body and strong legs: Many people believe they need to consume large quantities of low-fat curd cheese and protein powder to achieve this. Here's what experts recommend.
David Bowie is probably to blame for this with his song "Space Oddity." The singer's challenge to "Major Tom," whom he musically sends into space, is: "Take your protein pills and put your helmet on." Since the song's release in 1969, the popularity of protein supplements has increased, even though it's usually not pills that are taken, but rather protein drinks, protein shakes, and corresponding powders. Young men between 15 and 35, in particular, but also an increasing number of women, give the impression that they can't develop muscles without such supplements. At least not as pronounced and defined as they would like.
